For over 25 years, The Healthy Communities Foundation
has provided an integrated, adaptive approach to place-based care, achieving
better engagement in health, wellbeing and social outcomes for rural, regional
and remote communities.
We partner with our communities to design and deliver
responsive, innovative models of care. Our multidisciplinary teams deliver
Primary Care, Aged Care, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and healthcare navigation
across diverse settings—from residential aged care facilities and emergency
departments to GP clinics, community hubs, and people’s homes. By integrating
face-to-face services with enabling technology, we enhance access, continuity
and efficiency of care.

What we’re looking
for
We are seeking values-driven individuals with a deep passion for rural, remote,
and regional health. To contribute effectively to the Board, you will possess:
- A remote,rural, or regional service context experience and at least two of the
following:
Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander background, either as part of the community or through
significant experience working in partnership to provide an Indigenous
perspective to Board deliberations.
Aged Care expertise in the development and management of
services.
Technology and cyber governance skills with a focus on providing expert scrutiny of
cyber risk, incident response, AI governance, ethical use, and major system
investment decisions.
Financial governance and oversight, specifically deep expertise in financial
governance, including scenario modelling, stress testing, and the capacity to
oversee complex organisational accounts and capital management.
Risk management experience in identifying principal risks and
overseeing robust internal control systems.
High-level stakeholder management with strength in government relations,
public advocacy, or public-facing communications.
- A thorough knowledge of a director’s responsibilities, encompassing the legal, ethical,
fiduciary, and financial obligations of the role.
- Strategic expertise with the ability to guide long-term planning and distinguish between
board oversight and operational management.
- Change leadership experience in managing people and driving organisational transition.
- Personal integrity with a history of acting ethically, maintaining independence, and
placing organisational interests before personal interests.
- A collaborative and curious mindset supported by strong emotional intelligence
and interpersonal skills.
- Sound judgement and instinct to navigate complex decision-making and ensure ethical
outcomes.
- A commitment to meaningful engagement and ongoing professional development as a Director.
