The Cairnmillar Institute is a not-for-profit provider of psychological services and higher education, with a 65+ year history of supporting mental health and training the next generation of practitioners. We deliver clinical services, short courses, vocational training and accredited postgraduate programs in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy.
About the Role

We are seeking Psychology Supervisors to join our growing supervision team across a range of postgraduate psychology programs.
This role involves supervising placement students and supporting their development as safe, reflective, and competent practitioners. We are particularly interested in hearing from supervisors with experience working with children, adolescents, and families, and from those with experience in neurodiversity and neurodevelopmental assessments.
The role may include:
- providing high-quality individual and/or group supervision to postgraduate psychology students
- supporting student learning, professional development, and reflective practice
- contributing to the assessment of student progress and competency
- working collaboratively with placement coordinators and the wider supervision team
- contributing to teaching, training, or other academic activities at the Institute where relevant and of interest

About You
Supervisors play a key role in the training and assessment required to meet the competency standards of psychological practice. We are seeking suitably qualified supervisors for students undertaking placements in our postgraduate psychology courses.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- hold general registration as a psychologist with AHPRA and have no conditions on your registration
- hold Board Approved Supervisor status with the Psychology Board of Australia
- have experience supervising postgraduate psychology students, or demonstrate readiness to undertake this role
- ideally have experience working with children, adolescents, and families and/or with neurodiversity, including undertaking and/or supervising neurodevelopmental assessments
- have the ability to balance the multiple roles of a placement supervisor, including supporting learning, providing feedback, and evaluating supervisee competency
- have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- enjoy contributing to the development and training of psychologists and to the profession more broadly
- hold a Working with Children Check and current police check, or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement
