BUILDING SURVEYOR

Summary of Position:

The Building Surveyor is responsible for carrying out required assessments against the relevant State’s building regulations and requirements, and delivering the required reports/findings.

• Assessment of a range of building permit applications.

• Inspections and reporting as required.

• Attend design meetings as directed.

• Assist Managers/Directors in developing and managing practice policy and procedures.

• Work within a project team environment relating effectively with other team members.

• Support for administration staff with the following matters when they are absent or occupied, answer telephones, screen calls, take messages and expedite delivery of messages to Directors and Staff.

• Communicate design solutions in graphic and written media.

• Undertake status reports for clients and government departments.

• Updating of critical project files.

• Ensuring appropriate workflow in the office.

• Manage projects within a strategic Risk Management framework.

• Identify client needs and develop and articulate a project brief.

• Demonstrated ability to control difficult applications.

• Sound understanding of the statutory framework within which buildings are designed.

• Other Duties as Requested.

Qualifications and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying.

• Accreditation as a Building Surveyor.

• Working Towards accreditation as a Building Surveyor (Technical Officer)

Desirable:

• Additional qualification or experiences in a related discipline that would support the strategic imperatives identified above (Senior).

• Knowledge of/previous interaction with customers.
