Tasmanian Quality Meats is a family-owned business operating in Northern Tasmania. We have been in the meat processing industry for over 20 years and provide our award-winning products to local Australian suppliers and overseas markets. We are nationally recognised as the leading provider of top-quality Tasmanian lamb products.

We are an Approved Employer with the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme, and employ over 200 people in our business. We operate our own accommodation sites, transport, welfare and a whole range of activities as part of our Palm program. This role will be the direct contact on site for internal and external stakeholders alike.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced people person to join our team and manage aspects of our palm program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with various Palm Scheme functions, including recruitment, visa management, welfare and compliance, and liaison with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the PALMIS systems to ensure accurate documentation and record keeping: Reporting incidents, completing accommodation and recruitment plans.,
  • Complete recruitment tasks with labour sending units, including preparing documentations, visa applications, and working alongside government agencies such as home affairs and DEWR.
  • Coordinating arrivals and departures, conducting briefings, workforce planning, and ensuring a smooth, welcoming transition into and out of Australia.
  • Manage the welfare program, ensure accommodation is to standard, welfare obligations are being met, and provide additional support to our PALM scheme workers.

What we’re looking for:

  • Prior experience in managing or working in a palm program, particularly in recruitment and coordinating movements with offshore recruitment.
  • Working knowledge of pacific islands, the cultures and peoples within the palm program.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation.

A drivers licence, and working with vulnerable people registration will be required for this role.
