The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) have been walking for over 30 years, offering amazing wilderness experiences to our guests in some of Tasmania’s most special and remote wilderness locations. We work to deliver a truly immersive experience as we create connections between people and place in remote cultural landscapes through our boutique multi-day walking experiences.
Whilst our roots lie in Tassie, we operate on mainland Australia as The Australian Walking Company (AWC) and are excited to be experiencing a growth phase in the business as we introduce a number of new walks.
About the role
We’re looking for an Operations Support Officer to join our team and play an important role in supporting the systems, reporting and compliance that underpin our walking operations.
Working closely with our Operations Support and Delivery teams, you will help ensure our safety, environmental, fleet and compliance systems are accurate, effective and well maintained. This role would suit someone who is highly organised, has an eye for detail, enjoys improving systems and processes and wants to use their safety, compliance or operational experience in an organisation that operates in some of Australia’s most remarkable natural environments.
This is a full-time position based in our Launceston Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key user of our safety and reporting management system, supporting staff access, reporting templates and system use.
- Coordinate regular safety, compliance and operational reporting, including monitoring reporting completion and preparing key metrics, as well as assisting with reporting to relevant State and Federal regulatory bodies.
- Maintain compliance documentation, registers and schedules relating to operational licences, leases, management plans and other regulatory requirements.
- Support safety and environmental audits, inspections and investigations across the business.
- Work with our Delivery, Operations Support and Corporate Services teams to improve processes and guidelines across compliance, procurement and fleet management.
- Maintain accurate fleet and asset information to support effective vehicle and operational maintenance.
What you will bring
- A sound understanding of compliance, risk management and duty of care principles.
- Certificate IV or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety, or a willingness to obtain.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to compliance and reporting excellence.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with professionalism, warmth and accuracy.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with a variety of different stakeholders.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and work effectively with business systems.
- An understanding of or experience in guiding, bushwalking or outdoor recreation leadership (highly desirable).
