Sync Lift Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Supervisor to join our team at a major local aluminium smelter in Gladstone.
This is a permanent Monday to Friday position offering long-term stability, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to lead a skilled workforce delivering critical maintenance and project works. The role also includes preparing scopes of work and estimates for maintenance and project activities, making it ideal for a hands-on supervisor with strong planning and
commercial awareness.
Reporting directly to the Area Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team. You will play a key role in ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong client relationships.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and coordinating daily site activities.
- Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary maintenance team.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Planning, scheduling and allocating work to meet project and client requirements.
- Preparing estimates, scopes of work and material take-offs for maintenance and project activities.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and client documentation to develop accurate labour, material and equipment estimates.
- Assisting with project planning, budgeting and cost control to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with quality standards, drawings and specifications.
- Conducting pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and workplace safety observations.
- Monitoring productivity, labour utilisation and project performance.
- Liaising with clients, project management and support personnel.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for additional work.
- Completing daily reports, timesheets and project documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and statutory obligations.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving best practice across the work team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience supervising maintenance, construction or shutdown work within heavy industry.
- A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.
- Experience preparing estimates, scopes of work or project costings within an industrial maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
- Sound planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- The ability to pass site medicals and drug & alcohol testing.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
The following will be highly regarded:
- Previous experience in a Quality Assurance (QA/QC) role.
- Certificate 10 – Welding Supervision qualification.
- Previous experience as a Welding Supervisor.
- Experience managing welding quality, NDT requirements and fabrication compliance.
- Experience using estimating software or preparing cost estimates for maintenance, fabrication and project works.
- Previous experience working within aluminium smelters, refineries, mining or other heavy industrial environments.
