Build the tools that help accelerate Australia’s energy transition
At SwitchDin, we’re building software that enables a future powered by distributed
energy resources, battery storage and renewable energy. Our platform helps utilities,
commercial customers and equipment manufacturers manage energy smarter
through virtual power plants, microgrids and intelligent energy management.
We’re looking for an early-career Developer who loves building practical tools, enjoys
solving real business problems and is excited by AI, automation and modern software
development.
This isn’t a role maintaining customer-facing applications. You’ll build the internal
tools that make our Product, Strategy and Industry teams dramatically more effective—automating complex analytical work without sacrificing quality, governance or
trust.
If you’re the type of developer who sees repetitive work and immediately thinks “I
could automate that,” we’d love to meet you.
What you’ll do
You’ll work closely with our Strategy Lead and Product team to design, build and
maintain internal tools that help our business move faster and make better decisions.
Your work will include:
- Designing and building internal software and AI-powered workflows
- Automating recurring analytical and knowledge-based tasks
- Working directly with domain experts to understand problems and translate them into practical tools
- Building solutions whose outputs are transparent, traceable and reliable
- Using modern AI models responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining quality
- Writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Maintaining documentation, version control and knowledge sharing across the team
- Continuously improving existing tools based on feedback and changing business needs
What we’re looking for
We’re more interested in capability and curiosity than years of experience.
You’ll likely have:
- A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with modern programming languages and version control (Git)
- Practical experience using AI tools to build software or improve workflows
- A genuine interest in automation, developer productivity and solving business problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in energy, renewable technology or distributed energy resources is a
bonus, but not essential.
The kind of person who succeeds here
You’ll thrive if you:
- Take ownership of everything you build
- Care about correctness as much as speed
- Don’t trust output until you’ve verified it
- Enjoy learning new technologies quickly
- Like making other people’s work easier
- Keep your code organised, documented and maintainable
- Are comfortable saying “this isn’t ready yet” when quality demands it
- Want to grow rapidly in a supportive environment
Why SwitchDin?
You’ll join a company at the forefront of Australia’s clean energy transition, working
alongside experienced engineers and industry experts on meaningful technical
challenges.
We offer:
- A genuine opportunity to grow your career quickly
- Exposure to cutting-edge AI and software engineering practices
- Hybrid working arrangements
- A collaborative, highly capable team
- Meaningful work that contributes to the future of renewable energy
- A culture built on innovation, integrity and inclusion
