Description

We are Adventure Alternatives, an Outdoor Education Centre located in Kenilworth in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. We deliver both center and journey based school camps for Grade 5 through to Grade 11 with a strong sequential and sustainability focus.

Our purpose is to be a leader in quality sustainable outdoor education programs which inspire participants to learn and grow. We are looking for an Outdoor Educator to help us deliver our camps. The work is fun, forward thinking and dynamic. We really want to see you grow and develop, so you can help our clients grow and develop too. We aren’t looking for someone to just follow a program, we are looking for a leader to take ownership of their group, use their initiative and make decisions that best suit each circumstance. We will support you in these decisions because we trust our staff and we’ll empower you to make the right decisions at the right time for the right outcomes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and delivering a safe and positive camp experience for our clients.
  • Assessing and managing risk to ensure safety of participants, minimal impact on the environment and positive economic outcomes.
  • Providing high level advice on safety and implementation of activities for participants and teachers.
  • Acting as a liaison and advice point for teachers
  • Undertaking research, analysis and interpretation of complex issues relating to group management and risk assessment
  • Actively managing a participant group for age, sex, culture, participant numbers, and physical and emotional capacity to ensure delivery of a rewarding and proficient outdoor and environmental experience
  • Actively participate and support other instructors, teachers, centre staff and the director in delivery of programs.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Certificate 4 in Outdoor Rec (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of a Remote Area First Aid and CPR.
  • Vertical Rescue or/and Roping Qualifications
  • Child Commission Blue Card
  • Wilderness First Aid or willing to obatin
