About the role

This position is a Proficient or Advanced Practitioner role, having met Proficient or Advanced Practitioner level capabilities. Ongoing professional development and supervision is provided.

Our Behaviour Support program uses individualised strategies for people with a disability, reducing the potential for behaviour that puts a person and those around them at risk. As a member of our Behaviour Support Team, you will work alongside people with disability and their supports, to develop a Behaviour Support Plan, which includes evidenced-based strategies, skill development, and training for the person and their support network.

Tasks

  • Provide formal and informal supervision, secondary consultation, and support, to other practitioners.
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, induction, and ongoing support of Behaviour Support Practitioners.
  • Play an active role in promoting and marketing the services provided by Support Studio, to help grow our Behaviour Support teams.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, through attendance at network meetings and services visits.
  • Provide debriefing, training, and reflective practice to other members of the team.
  • Contribute to high quality Behaviour Support services by regularly reviewing and supervising the work of other practitioners, including the development of Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Support the intake and allocation of new Behaviour Support referrals.
  • Develop goals, practical strategies, and interventions that are evidenced-based and person-centred.
  • Complete Functional Behaviour Assessments to understand the underlying causes/functions of behaviours with the potential to cause harm.
  • Lodge Behaviour Support Plans with the appropriate legislative body (i.e. NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission and State Based systems).
  • Improve the quality of life and minimise risk/complexities for individuals who present with behaviours with the potential to cause harm.
  • Work towards eliminating restrictive practices.
  • Provide training and support to individuals and their support network, regarding behaviours with the potential to cause harm.
  • Safeguard the dignity and quality of life of people with disability who require behaviour support.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Receive supervision (individual, peer, and group), and individualised professional development planning, in line with the Behaviour Support Capability Framework.
