Summary:

The Senior Theatre Technician (Audiovisual) plays a crucial role ensuring the seamless operation of audiovisual equipment and technical support for performances and events. Based in Caloundra, Queensland, this permanent full-time position requires a proficient individual who can manage complex technical setups and collaborate effectively with artists and production teams to deliver high-quality experiences for audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio and AV equipment for theatre productions and events.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers, and performers to understand technical requirements and provide solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
  • Train and supervise junior technicians in the use of audiovisual technology.
  • Assist in the design and implementation sound and AV for various productions.
  • Manage inventory of technical equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Stay updated with the latest audiovisual technologies and industry trends to enhance production quality.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 5 years minimum experience in the operation and configuration of professional audio-visual equipment in a live production environment.
  • A high level of competency in operating large format digital audio consoles in live situations, with demonstrated experience in live music and theatre settings.
  • Extensive experience in delivering and operating AV projection systems, including ATEM switching, Black Magic video, camera operation, live streaming and playback.
  • Extensive computer skills in PowerPoint, QLab, Keynote, Office as well as basic networking skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical plans and designs.
  • An understanding of the importance of quality customer service.
  • Understanding and execution of relevant workplace health and safety principles.
  • Availability and commitment to undertake work on weekends, public holidays and after-hours as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work autonomously, as well working effectively as part of a team.
  • Current drivers’ licence – “C” Class
