We are hiring a senior bookkeeper to join the Admin Army crew in Suva.
The work is for New Zealand and Australian businesses. NZ and AU accounting software. NZ and AU compliance rules. NZ business hours. NZ public holiday calendar. If you are looking for local Fiji-market bookkeeping, this is not it. Candidates from outside Fiji will not be considered.
What you will be doing
You will run a portfolio of client files with real autonomy. Transaction processing and coding, bank reconciliation, AP, AR, GST reconciliation, month-end and quarter-end reporting. Prepare GST returns and BAS end-to-end. Prepare monthly financial reports for client sign-off. Own the day-to-day client relationship on your files: emails, queries, review calls.
Primarily Xero, some MYOB. Hubdoc, ApprovalMax and Dext across the client stack. SOPs live in OneNote. Comms run through Teams and Karbon. Every file is peer-reviewed. Every standard is documented.
You will also peer-review the work of intermediate and junior bookkeepers on the crew and be their first point of escalation.
Who we are looking for
Four or more years bookkeeping or accounts experience, with at least two years running client files independently. Strong grip on double-entry and GST mechanics. Someone who can explain and defend how they’ve posted a transaction under review. Confident owning a client relationship day-to-day.
Xero is our primary platform. If you’re on MYOB, QuickBooks, or another cloud package and haven’t used Xero yet, that’s fine. Fundamentals matter more to us than software fluency, and you’ll be productive in Xero within a fortnight.
About Admin Army
We are an outsourced finance and payroll operator running bookkeeping, payroll, accounting practice support and projects work for businesses in NZ and AU. The team clients bring in when their back office has outgrown the founder, the spreadsheet, or the part-time bookkeeper who knew where everything was.
More than 30 operators across NZ, Fiji and India. One team. One set of standards. Training led from NZ.
The numbers
Year One salary: FJD 30,000 to 40,000, set on hire based on assessed skill level. Reviewed annually. Paid training and certifications. Room to grow into more complex client portfolios, mentoring and file review responsibilities, and specialist work as it emerges.
How the process works
The selection process is:
• Application review.
• A short recorded screening call with the recruitment lead.
• Interview with the Bookkeeping Manager and a senior team member.
• A live technical assessment conducted over screen-share, in Xero, before any offer is made.
The technical assessment is not a trick. It is a supervised, practical exercise using a demo file. We are testing bookkeeping judgement first, and Xero navigation second. If you have not used Xero before, tell us. It is not a barrier.
How to apply
Email hello@adminarmy.com with your CV and a cover letter. Subject line: Admin Army Senior Bookkeeper– [Your Name].
One thing we need from you in the cover letter, because attention to detail matters in this role: you are stranded on a desert island and you took three items with you. What are they, and why?
If your application does not answer that question, we will not read the CV.
