About Stirlings
Established in 1973, Stirlings Performance Steels is a privately owned Stockist & Processor of Stainless & Performance Steel products.
We import, stock, process, and distribute premium metals to customers across Australia and internationally — materials that end up in factories, bridges, buildings, sculptures, vehicles, ships, and more.
As a privately owned business, we’ve held onto something many companies lose as they grow: a genuine family culture. Join Stirlings, and you’ll find a stable, full-time career with a growing national business, professional on-the-job training, and genuine career development — we’re strong on internal development and promotion, and many of our leaders started on the floor or the phones.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a full-time Business Development Manager operating from our Bibra Lake site. Reporting to the Sales Manager – WA, you’ll own the full sales relationship — from building competitive quotations & negotiating with customers, through to developing new business and making sure every order lands right. It’s a role for someone who enjoys both looking after established accounts and getting out there to win new ones.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll bring experience in Stainless steel, or more broadly the steel industry or industrial wholesale — though the right attitude matters more to us than a perfect CV, and we’ll invest in training the product knowledge.
What we won’t compromise on is the way you sell. We’re after someone with strong communication skills and genuine sales acumen — not a rep who makes the visit, handballs the enquiry back to the office, and moves on. You’ll be actively involved in the full sales service: quoting, negotiating, following through, and staying hands-on with your accounts. That’s how we build business at Stirlings — on relationships and service — and it’s how you’ll turn new customers into long-term trading accounts.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Being Active in the Market
- Research key and target accounts, and get out on the road visiting new and emerging customers
- Canvas new business, follow up and re-engage previous customers
- Build knowledge across all the industries we serve, identifying inventory requirements and market opportunities to grow the business
Winning & Converting New Business
- Work hard to service new business and convert it into regular trading accounts
- Construct competitive, complete quotations and orders for all types of customers
- Negotiate quotations — margins, freight, and profit — to add value for both the company and the customer relationship
- Offer commercial solutions & package project & indent offerings for our customers
Delivering the Full Sales Service
- Provide the complete sales service — not just the visit, but hands-on account management from quotation through to delivery
- Oversee the full sales process and transactions to ensure order fulfilment and customer satisfaction
- Be a leader in the market and a representative of the Stirlings brand and values in everything you do
Responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
Why Stirlings?
- Stable, full-time role with a growing national business
- Professional on-the-job training
- Genuine career development — we’re strong on internal position development & career progression
- A privately owned, family-oriented culture
