About Us

At St John Ambulance SA, we’ve been helping South Australians live safer, healthier lives for over 140 years. As a trusted charity and community-focused organisation, we deliver first aid training, event health and medical services, first aid products, and social inclusion programs that make a real difference across the state.

Supported by over 1,200 dedicated volunteers and 200+ employees, we’re passionate about serving our community and empowering people with lifesaving skills.

We’re looking for a proactive IT Systems and Network Administrator to join our IT team and help maintain the critical systems and infrastructure that keep our organisation operating.

This is a hands-on role responsible for managing our on-premises and cloud-based environments, strengthening cyber security, supporting users, and contributing to technology projects that improve how we work.

As part of a small, high-performing team, you’ll work across everything from infrastructure and networking to helpdesk support and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Keep our critical IT infrastructure running smoothly, ensuring colleagues across St John can deliver vital services without disruption.
  • Manage and support cloud platforms, servers, networks, storage, backups, and security systems across the organisation.
  • Monitor, maintain, and continuously improve the reliability, performance, and security of our technology environment.
  • Strengthen cyber security by implementing best-practice controls, responding to emerging risks, and maintaining compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning, helping ensure St John remains operational during technology-related incidents.
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance to stakeholders, helping them make informed technology decisions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including escalated helpdesk requests, while coordinating with external technology partners when required.
  • Lead and support the deployment of new systems, applications, and technology upgrades that enhance business operations.
  • Contribute technical expertise to IT projects, including solution design, planning, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes, increase efficiency, and deliver value across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with the wider IT team to deliver exceptional service and foster a positive, solutions-focused culture.
  • Deliver responsive, customer-focused support that empowers staff to work effectively and productively every day.

About you

You are a curious problem solver who enjoys working across a broad technology landscape and delivering great customer service.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows, virtualised servers and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and Intune.
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki networking and IP telephony systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills within networked environments.
  • The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience contributing to IT projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A collaborative, accountable and customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).

Why join St John SA?

  • Purpose-driven organisation making a real difference in the community.
  • Exposure to modern cloud, infrastructure and cyber security technologies.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Salary packaging benefits.

If you’re looking for a role where your technical expertise has genuine impact, we’d love to hear from you.
