Please note that this a Volunteer position. There is no remuneration. All Board Member roles are on a voluntary basis only.
Spectrum space is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides autistic individuals a safe, supportive and inclusive environment to explore their interests and create social connections. Our services are non-therapeutic, this means we do not try to change our participants in any way, instead, we focus on fostering confidence and empowering people to be themselves, just as they are.
At Spectrum Space, we embrace a person-centred, strength-based approach. We engage and motivate by focusing on each individual’s unique interests, creating programs that celebrate diversity and encourage meaningful connection.
Board Secretary
The Board Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the CEO and Board Chair to shape and embed effective governance and administrative processes.
This role is designed to relieve the CEO of day-to-day board administration duties, allowing for a clearer separation of governance and operations. The Board Secretary also helps strengthen the working relationship between the Chair, CEO, and Board by ensuring board processes are well-organised, compliant, and transparent.
What you’ll gain from this role:
As a volunteer Board Secretary, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Gain practical governance experience and insight into how a not‑for‑profit organisation is governed
- Develop or strengthen skills in governance processes, compliance, and administration
- Work closely with experienced Board members, the Chair, and the CEO in a collaborative and values‑driven environment
- Contribute meaningfully to decision‑making that supports inclusive outcomes for the community
- Build confidence and experience that may support future Board, governance, or leadership roles.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys organisation, clear communication, and supporting effective governance. It offers a meaningful way to contribute skills while learning how strong governance helps an organisation achieve its purpose.
Our Commitment to Inclusion:
Spectrum Space is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity in all its forms and actively welcome neurodivergent team members. Inclusion is at the heart of what we do, and we strive to create a workplace where everyone’s strengths are recognised and respected.
