Graduate Accountant to join our finance team and support the financial operations
of our growing business.
This is an excellent opportunity for accounting professional
to gain broad exposure to financial and management accounting within a dynamic
agribusiness environment, while working closely with senior finance leadership
including the Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Purchasing
supervisor and CFO.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Graduate
Accountant will play a key role in accounts processing, statutory compliance,
cost analysis and month-end reporting. This role offers genuine variety and the
chance to build a strong foundation across all areas of financial accounting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing and lodging monthly Business Activity
Statements (BAS) and PAYG obligations in compliance with ATO requirements.
- Preparing and submitting Chick Hatching and Egg
Promotion Levy Returns in accordance with DAFF requirements and maintaining
supporting accounting records.
- Processing supplier invoices, creditor payments and
foreign currency transactions through the ERP and banking systems.
- Allocating and reconciling daily customer receipts and
investigating payment discrepancies as they arise.
- Undertaking company banking, monthly bank
reconciliations and supporting schedules for financial reporting.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly costing and variance
reports for biological assets, production inputs, labour hire, utilities and
operational expenses.
- Assisting with month-end accounting, accruals, fixed
asset register maintenance and audit support (interim and year-end).
- Preparing employee-related statutory schedules,
including PAYG withholding, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, Child Support and FBT
obligations.
- Maintaining and improving ERP accounting processes,
internal controls and financial record-keeping systems.
- Liaising with external stakeholders, including
auditors, financial institutions and taxation authorities, as well as internal
managers and stakeholders.
- Coordinating with purchasing coordinators and
operations managers to prepare monthly creditor and electricity accrual
journals for review by the Financial Accountant.
- Monitoring and analysing biological asset operating
costs, expenditure trends and profitability, and reporting findings for
month-end financial reporting.
- Supporting the Financial Accountant with fixed asset
additions, disposals and reconciliations, along with other ad-hoc accounting
duties.
- Providing financial and accounting support to managers
and stakeholders, including advice on accounting procedures, cost control and
reporting requirements.
- Attending to general finance administration and
responding to finance-related enquiries from internal stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a
closely related discipline.
- Minimum two (2) year of relevant professional
accounting experience.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial
reporting and taxation compliance.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication
skills.
- Working towards CA/CPA qualification is preferred.
