About Softball Australia

Softball Australia is the national sporting organisation for softball, with eight member states and territories, more than 23,000 members and over 100,000 players, from grassroots to elite. Our vision is that softball is for everybody, inspiring heroes on the world stage. We do well, we do good, and we have fun.

We exist for our members and govern the sport to ensure integrity, safety, inclusivity and respectful environments at all levels. Softball Australia is an equal opportunity employer committed to equity, diversity and social inclusion.

Keep our national teams moving

Behind every camp, tour and international tournament is someone making sure the flights are booked, the gear arrives and every athlete knows where they need to be. Softball Australia is looking for a High Performance Operations Coordinator to be that person for our national and talent pathway teams.

This is a fixed-term backfill role, available because our current High Performance Operations Coordinator is on an internal secondment to the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup. The contract runs until 30 June 2027, when the incumbent returns to the role.

It’s a great opportunity to get hands-on experience in high performance sport operations during one of the biggest years in Australian softball, with the World Cup on home soil and the road to the LA 2028 Olympics underway.

What you’ll do

Team logistics and travel

  • Coordinate team travel with SA’s travel partner, including flights, accommodation, ground transport, visas and meals
  • Be the first point of contact for athletes, coaches, performance support staff and SA stakeholders on high performance and talent pathway logistics
  • Liaise with WBSC, tournament LOCs, the AIS and other event stakeholders to secure bookings and meet tournament compliance requirements
  • Communicate itineraries, travel details and logistics plans to athletes, staff, team managers and volunteers
  • Manage freight and equipment movements, including customs and international transport
  • Help collect and maintain athlete documentation such as passports, visas, medical, dietary and consent forms

Uniforms and equipment

  • Oversee uniform ordering, sizing, distribution and inventory tracking, in line with SA’s Style Guide and partner agreements
  • Coordinate equipment with suppliers, keep records of issued items and manage replacements and returns
  • Keep stock at the right levels, complete quarterly stock takes and support the annual end-of-financial-year stock take, including value-in-kind (VIK)

Planning and support

  • Maintain program calendars and daily schedules for camps and tours
  • Support the National Talent Pathway Manager to deliver camps, tours, talent ID events and pathway projects
  • Run post-event feedback surveys after each camp, tour or tournament
  • Reconcile financial and corporate card accounts monthly with SA’s Finance team
  • Contribute to strategic projects such as the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup Finals, and provide administrative support to the General Manager Game Development

What you bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in sports administration or equivalent (desirable), or more than 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Exceptional organisation and task management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with people at all levels, from athletes and volunteers to international federations
  • The ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence following set processes, and the initiative to identify and drive improvements
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and an eye for using technology to work smarter
  • A high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Commitment to SA’s values: Unified, Respect, Creative & Brave, and Fun

Bonus points for: experience organising softball or other sporting events.

The fine print

  • This is a fixed-term backfill position until 30 June 2027, created due to an internal secondment
  • Some work outside normal business hours and domestic and international travel will be required
  • A current Working With Children Check is required
