Summary:
The AP and Payroll Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and payroll functions. This position is essential for maintaining financial integrity and supporting the overall operational efficiency of the business. The successful candidate will contribute to the financial health of the company by managing vendor payments and employee remuneration effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Process and manage all accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring all employee hours and deductions are accurately recorded.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to accounts payable and payroll.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation is in place.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations and address any payroll-related queries.
- Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and information.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years in an Australian finance role covering payroll and/or AP.
- Working knowledge of end-to-end accounts payable and general finance operations.
- Understanding of Australian payroll obligations: Fair Work, awards, superannuation, PAYG, STP and payroll tax.
- High attention to detail, strong numeracy and an absolute commitment to confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across teams and respond to employee queries.
- Proficiency with payroll and ERP/accounting systems and intermediate Excel (reconciliations, lookups, pivots).
- Ability to manage competing priorities and fixed pay and payment deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
