Description

Help keep the systems behind advanced Australian technology secure, reliable and performing at their best.

Silentium Defence is looking for an experienced Systems & Applications Administrator to join our IT team and provide technical administration, support and continuous improvement across our systems, infrastructure and business applications.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, solving complex technical problems and making technology work better for the people who rely on it.

Working closely with our IT Manager, Cyber Security Analyst, IT Support Technician and stakeholders across the business, you’ll support a diverse technology environment spanning Microsoft 365, endpoints, servers, infrastructure, identity, cloud services and business applications.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play an important role in the reliability and performance of Silentium Defence’s technology environment, including:

  • Administering, configuring and supporting Microsoft 365 and key business applications.
  • Maintaining and improving servers, storage, networking components, backup systems and core technology platforms.
  • Supporting endpoint management, device configuration and corporate mobile devices.
  • Providing advanced troubleshooting for escalated issues
  • Maintaining secure system configurations and assisting with implementation of approved security controls.
  • Coordinating with vendors and third-party support providers to resolve technical issues.
  • Developing and maintaining system documentation, procedures, configuration records, support guides and knowledge base content.
  • Identifying opportunities to automate, streamline and improve IT processes.
  • Providing technical input into IT projects, planning, upgrades and continuous improvement activities.
  • Sharing technical knowledge and helping promote good IT practices across the organisation.

About you

You’re technically capable, curious and solutions focused. You enjoy troubleshooting, but you also look beyond the immediate issue to understand why something happened and how it can be prevented from happening again.

You’ll bring:

  • Relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications in IT, computing or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft 365 services.
  • Strong experience in network configuration and management.
  • Strong experience supporting Windows workstations and business applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across hardware, software, applications, systems and networks.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based services and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience creating clear technical documentation, procedures and support materials.
  • Sound understanding of cyber security best practice and secure system administration.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to manage competing technical requirements.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and willingness to help others.

Experience with Linux environments will be highly regarded. Experience within defence, engineering, advanced manufacturing or another high-technology environment would also be advantageous.

What will make you successful

You’re someone who:

  • Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution.
  • Can distinguish between what is urgent and what will deliver the greatest business value.
  • Spots problems before they become bigger problems.
  • Enjoys improving systems and processes rather than simply maintaining them.
  • Communicates technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical people.
  • Has strong attention to detail and a security-conscious mindset.
  • Enjoys being part of a collaborative IT team while being confident working independently.

Eligibility

Due to the nature of our work, applicants must be Australian Citizens and able to obtain an NV1 security clearance

A current driver’s licence is desirable.

If you enjoy being the person who understands how the pieces fit together, solving challenging technical problems and continuously improving the technology environment around you, we’d love to hear from you.
