Currently, WolfPeak are seeking a Principal Environmental Planner to join their team. The Principal Environmental Planner will demonstrate leadership in delivery, client relationship management, and technical excellence, while leading complex projects, providing high-level guidance and quality assurance, and actively supporting business development. In this role, the Principal Planner will influence strategic direction and must be passionate about building client relationships that drive sustainable growth and be able to influence capability across the team.
WHAT YOU DO
- Lead the delivery of complex, high-impact, or strategic projects.
- Provide technical oversight, direction, and quality assurance across project teams.
- Apply deep technical expertise to ensure rigorous, fit-for-purpose solutions.
- Build and maintain long-term, trusted client relationships.
- Identify and secure new work; contribute to bids, proposals, and tenders.
- Partner with Practice Leads to grow client accounts and explore new markets.
- Mentor and coach less experienced team members through on-the-job learning.
- Champion collaboration across project teams and practice areas.
- Support team resourcing and project delivery across regions.
- Contribute to strategic planning, business performance, and growth initiatives.
- Balance project delivery with commercial awareness and internal improvement efforts.
WHO YOU ARE
Candidates should possess:
- 10–15+ years of experience in Environmental Planning and Assessment, with a focus on renewables and water projects
- Deep technical expertise in Planning Approvals and Environmental Assessment in NSW.
- Expertise in other Eastern States (desirable, not essential).
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex multidisciplinary projects
- REAP certified or with the appropriate qualifications and experience to be certified in future
- Collaborative and team-oriented with a mentoring mindset
- Strategic and business-aware, contributing beyond immediate project scope
- Strong capability in business development and client engagement
- Familiarity with internal operations, planning tools, and team dynamics
