Position Summary
The Senior Accountant reports to the Finance and Commercial Manager and is responsible for leading the month-end process, delivering accurate financial reporting, providing guidance and oversight across the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, and acting as a key link between Finance and Operations to ensure financial processes are effectively integrated into day-to-day business activities.

Some of the role’s general tasks include:
- Lead the month-end process, including preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial commentary.
- Regularly review departmental performance, costs and key financial metrics to support the achievement of business objectives.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities.
- Develop and improve reporting processes, systems and internal financial controls.
- Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements, BAS and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Oversee the fixed asset register, including capital expenditure tracking and depreciation calculations.
- Provide guidance and oversight to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including review of member account adjustments, billing exceptions and account queries.
- Support the Finance and Commercial Manager and wider finance team with strategic projects, process improvements and ad-hoc analysis.
About You
- 3+ years’ experience in a Financial Accountant, Senior Accountant, Management Accountant or similar accounting role.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Business.
- CA or CPA qualified, or working towards completion, highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, deferred revenue and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and provide meaningful financial insights.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial systems capability.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the business.
- A proactive mindset with a desire to learn, take ownership and continue developing professionally.
