Saltbush is seeking a compassionate, culturally aware and motivated Trainee Mentor to join our Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program in Tennant Creek. Working alongside a dedicated team, you’ll develop strengths-based mentoring and personalised support that helps participants achieve their goals and build brighter futures.

Excellent Remuneration: $70k + 12% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave

Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed

Travel: This role is primarily based in Tennant Creek. Occasional travel may be required from time to time to support program delivery or attend organisational meetings.

The Role: As a Trainee Mentor, you’ll work alongside experienced Mentors, Trainer and the broader SEE team while developing the skills and confidence to provide strengths-based mentoring and participant support.
Through on-the-job learning, supervision and formal training, you’ll build the knowledge and practical experience needed to support participants to overcome barriers, achieve their goals and create pathways to employment and further education.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- ·Learn to provide strengths-based mentoring and participant support.
- ·Work alongside experienced Mentors, Trainers and the Course Coordinator.
- ·Support participants to identify goals and overcome barriers.
- ·Assist with workshops, participant engagement and program activities.
- ·Maintain participant records and contribute to program reporting.
- ·Complete the accredited Saltbush mentoring qualification.
- ·Build your knowledge through coaching, shadowing and guided practice.

Essential Criteria:
- ·This is an Identified Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, with evidence of Aboriginality required prior to employment.
- ·A genuine desire to support First Nations participants.
- ·Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- ·A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- ·Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- ·Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new systems.
- ·Commitment to completing the 11055NAT Course in Mentoring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce Mentors.
Employment Requirements:
Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain:
- National Police Clearance (no more than 3 months old)
- Valid NT OCHRE Card
- Current Unrestricted/Open Driver Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
