The opportunity 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned professional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team. Reporting to the COO and working closely with the Executive Team and Board, this role will lead the finance function while shaping the strategic financial direction of RPM Hire and its group entities.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially minded CFO who enjoys partnering with operations to drive performance, making this role crucial for our continued success in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the company’s financial strategy to support its objectives, growth plans, and long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, tax, payroll, treasury, and broader finance operations.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear commercial and strategic advice to the CEO, Executive Team, and Board.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, funding requirements, and capital allocation to maintain the financial health of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, accounting standards, statutory obligations, and internal governance requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective financial governance, risk management, controls, and accountability frameworks.
  • Lead financial modelling, business cases, investment analysis, and other initiatives supporting business growth and operational improvement.
  • Manage key external relationships with auditors, banks, investors, insurers, and professional advisors.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Finance Team, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting, processes, controls, and business intelligence.

About You

  • 8–10+ years’ senior financial leadership experience (CFO / Finance Director level)
  • Proven experience leading finance functions in multi-entity or national organisations
  • Strong FP&A, governance, and commercial acumen
  • CPA or CA qualification (essential)
  • Advanced Excel and Xero experience (Power BI advantageous)
  • Experience in hire, construction, logistics, or similar industries highly regarded
  • Values-driven leader with a collaborative, practical approach

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification is essential; a relevant postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in finance, including a minimum of five years in a senior financial leadership role such as CFO or Finance Director.
  • Proven experience leading finance functions within a national, multi-entity, or similarly complex organisation.
  • Strong experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, governance, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to provide practical, data-driven advice and support sustainable business growth.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting standards, financial regulations, compliance, and risk management.
  • Advanced analytical, financial modelling, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Xero; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is advantageous.
  • Experience in the hire, construction, logistics, transport, infrastructure, or related industries will be highly regarded.
  • Strong people management and leadership capability, with a proven ability to lead, develop, mentor, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
  • A visible and supportive leader who leads by example, builds trust, and creates clarity, consistency, and confidence across the Finance Team.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and strengthen a positive, collaborative, and supportive workplace culture.
