About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Spray Rig Operator to join our Farm Ops team. The Spray Rig Operator will help maintain the health and vitality of our farm’s produce. As a key member of our agricultural team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining spray rigs, applying pesticides and fertilizers, and ensuring the overall well-being of our crops.
Key operational accountabilities include:
- Ensure the correct chemicals are used for each crop and application, preventing incorrect use or crop damage (“burning”).
- Verify that all spray operators are using accurate chemical mixes, rates, and safety procedures.
- Check and record all chemicals going out for use and those returned to the shed after spraying.
- Maintain accurate spray logs and usage records for compliance and traceability.
- Ensure all spray equipment is clean, calibrated, and functioning correctly before use.
- Provide on-site support and guidance to the spraying team during operations.
- Chemical Shed & Inventory Management.
- Oversee the chemical shed and ensure safe storage, labelling, and handling of all products.
- Conduct regular stocktakes and reconcile inventory levels against usage.
- Receive incoming deliveries of chemicals
- Maintain SDS records and ensure compliance with all chemical safety regulations.
- Keep a clean, organised, and compliant chemical shed at all times.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- Previous experience as a Spray Rig Operator or similar role on a farm is highly preferred.
- Must have a chemical Accreditation (ChemCert).
- Must have a Forklift licence.
- Knowledge and experience with precision ag technology.
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable using modern technology such as smart phones.
- Transportation and a valid driver’s licence.
- Knowledge of safe pesticide application practices and farm machinery operation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets.
- A truck license and/or a valid forklift license would be considered an advantage.
