About the Role
The Communications and Media Officer contributes to effective communication for natural resource management (NRM) projects and broader organisational goals. The role plans, coordinates and delivers high-quality communications across corporate, project, media, website, social media and event channels.
The position requires exceptional organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines and stakeholder priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The role works collaboratively with project teams, stakeholders and media and supports consistent, timely and engaging communication of Reef Catchments activities and achievements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate corporate and project communications across multiple channels.
- Create, proofread and distribute communications materials aligned with Reef Catchments’ brand and project requirements.
- Maintain website content, social media schedules, e-news and other digital communications.
- Prepare media materials, support media enquiries and promote Reef Catchments’ projects and achievements.
- Create basic graphic content, support photography and assist with communications for events and promotional activities.
- Maintain communication schedules, records, content libraries and media assets.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the following criteria:
Essential
Demonstrated experience creating, coordinating and delivering communications materials across multiple channels and managing competing priorities and deadlines.
Experience using WordPress CMS and managing website content, social media schedules, e-news platforms and digital content.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, to produce or modify basic communication products.
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with project teams, stakeholders and media, with capacity to work periodically on weekends and outside ordinary business hours.
Desirable
Experience using HubSpot for social media content management and audience engagement.
Experience preparing media materials, supporting media inquiries and monitoring media results.
Photography skills, including capturing and processing images for communications use.
Experience supporting events, promotional activities, site traffic analysis or communications in a natural resource management or project-based environment.
