Description

Position Overview 

As an Intermediate IT Operations Engineer at Redmap, you will take ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure across our AWS environments. You’ll actively contribute to the evolution of our infrastructure-as-code practices, observability systems, and automation tooling—helping to ensure performance, cost-efficiency, and security at scale.

You’ll work closely with developers, operations, and product teams to deliver robust solutions and collaborate on incident response, system optimisation, and platform improvements.

 

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design and implement infrastructure on AWS using ECS, EC2, RDS, and related services.
  • Manage cloud environments through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
  • Contribute to automation pipelines and DevOps workflows to support CI/CD and reduce manual intervention.
  • Maintain secure and scalable environments through access controls, policies, and continuous auditing.

Application Operations                   

  • Collaborate and guide Associates and work with Senior team members to understand and update Redmap customer systems and their network interactions internally and externally.
  • Working closely with Associate and Senior team members to ensure the operational efficiency and optimal performance of Redmap customer systems
  • Analyse logs and observability tools to identify errors and anomalies that could negatively impact systems, and where able, proactively address these issues. Guide Associates in performing these tasks and collaborate with Seniors on issues identified.
  • Troubleshoot software-related issues in collaboration with other departments and cross functional teams.
  • Implement changes throughout the environment and customer systems with precision and accuracy, ensuring minimal impact on cloud clients and prioritizing security.
  • Follow up with other departments to ensure updates impacting the environment or customers are being developed, tested and implemented.
  • Work with other departments to assist in customer focussed questions issues that may occur.

Monitoring & Resilience

  • Monitor system performance using tools like Datadog and CloudWatch, and respond to alerts proactively.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and contribute to system hardening and resilience.
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver platform changes and enhancements.
  • Provide internal support for cloud-related issues and contribute to incident resolution.
  • Document system architecture, playbooks, and team processes in Confluence.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to infrastructure and operations workflows.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, including compute (EC2, ECS, RDS), networking, IAM, and storage services.
  • Proficiency with IaC tools like Terraform..
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools such as BitBucket Pipelines, Octopus.
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., Bash) for automation and system interaction.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and operational resilience.

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect Associate) are a plus.
