Who we are

At RED OHMS Group, we’re passionate about protecting workers’ health, safety and wellbeing.

As a leading Australian consultancy, we partner with organisations across the resources, oil and gas, construction, manufacturing, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and government sectors to deliver specialist occupational hygiene, hazardous materials, environmental consulting and training services.

Everything we do is driven by a simple purpose—to help create healthier and safer workplaces. As our business continues to grow nationally, we’re looking for an experienced People & Capability Advisor to help us build an exceptional employee experience and support our people to do their best work.

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our People & Capability team in a broad HR generalist role that offers genuine variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution.

Reporting to the People & Capability Manager, you’ll work closely with leaders and employees across the organisation, providing practical HR advice while contributing to initiatives that strengthen capability, engagement, and organisational culture.

No two days are the same. Whether you’re supporting leaders with employee relations, coordinating learning and development programs, improving HR processes or contributing to strategic projects, you’ll play an important role in helping our people and our business succeed.

What you’ll be doing

Working across the full employee lifecycle, you’ll:

  • Provide practical advice and support to managers on employee relations, performance management and workplace matters
  • Review and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Coach leaders to build capability in managing, developing and supporting their teams
  • Coordinate learning and development initiatives that strengthen professional and technical capability across the organisation
  • Deliver employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives that reinforce our values and culture
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding for local and international employees
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR data using Employment Hero.
  • Support remuneration reviews, workforce reporting and people analytics
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR systems, reporting and service delivery through technology and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to broader People & Capability projects that support organisational growth

About you

You’re an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders and helping people succeed.

You’re approachable, proactive and solutions-focused, with the confidence to provide practical advice across a broad range of people matters. You build trusted relationships easily, communicate effectively and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy variety, take ownership of your work and are motivated by making a genuine contribution to both the employee experience and the success of the organisation.

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience in a HR generalist or HR advisory role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and contemporary HR practices
  • Experience supporting employee relations, performance management and leadership coaching
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety legislation, including psychosocial risk management
  • Experience coordinating learning and development or employee engagement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience using HR information systems, preferably Employment Hero
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including intermediate Excel

Desirable

  • Experience within professional services, consulting or a similar environment
  • Experience using Xero, SEEK, LinkedIn Recruiter or SurveyMonkey
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform or other business process improvement tools
