OHS Nurse
As the OHS Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce. Working independently within our on-site medical centre, you’ll provide emergency response, occupational health services, health surveillance and preventative care while supporting injury management and promoting a healthy workplace. This role is central to ensuring employees receive high-quality clinical care and that the site meets its health, safety and legislative obligations. Working closely with operational leaders and external healthcare providers, you’ll help create a safe, healthy and productive workplace for everyone.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide immediate emergency medical care and coordinate with emergency services when required.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the on-site medical clinic, ensuring equipment, supplies and medications are maintained and compliant.
- Deliver routine health assessments, medical surveillance and wellbeing programs to support a healthy workforce.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing, hydration monitoring and assist with pre-employment and periodic medicals.
- Maintain accurate medical records, incident reports, immunisation registers and occupational health monitoring data.
- Manage medication registers, RFDS medical supplies and prescription safety glasses in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Support injury management by assisting with suitable duties information and return-to-work processes.
- Conduct annual health initiatives including ECGs, sleep apnoea screening and other preventative health programs.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, clinical standards and company policies.
- Support the wider business by responding to medical emergencies, assisting RFDS clinics and contributing to continuous improvement in workplace health and wellbeing.

About you:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Experience in occupational health, emergency nursing, remote area nursing or acute clinical care (mining or heavy industry experience is highly regarded).
- Demonstrated ability to respond confidently to medical emergencies and provide high-quality clinical assessment and treatment.
- Knowledge of workplace health, injury management, health surveillance and preventative health programs.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage confidential medical records and maintain clinical compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, contractors, leaders and external medical providers.
- Sound clinical judgement, problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
- A commitment to promoting a safe, healthy and supportive workplace culture.
- Current CPR and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
