Laboratory Technician
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting sample preparation, assay work, and metallurgical test work to support processing operations at Ravenswood Gold Mine. The role ensures
analytical results are accurate, timely, and compliant with laboratory quality standards. The position operates within strict safety and chemical handling requirements and contributes to maintaining high laboratory performance standards.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct sample preparation including drying, crushing, pulverising, and splitting in accordance with laboratory procedures
- Perform Photon analysis, wet chemistry, and other analytical and metallurgical test work as required
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
- Accurately record assay and test results in laboratory systems
- Follow QA/QC procedures including insertion of standards, blanks, and duplicates
- Identify and report analytical discrepancies or equipment faults
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the laboratory
- Safely handle chemicals and reagents in accordance with site safety requirements
- Assist with routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments
- Ensure laboratory documentation and records are completed accurately and on time
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard reporting, and laboratory inspections
- Assist metallurgists with metallurgical test work programs as required
- Comply with all site safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory

About You:
- Certificate or qualification in Chemistry, Laboratory Techniques, or related discipline (desirable)
- Experience in a mine site or commercial laboratory environment (desirable)
- Knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain quality standards
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting
- Ability to work shift rosters in a processing environment
- Physically capable of performing manual laboratory tasks
- Current Class C driver’s licence (desirable)
