Due to business growth, we are seeking an Electrical Draftsperson/Designer to join our Design and Engineering team. You will play a key role in the accurate and efficient drafting and design of our switchboard products, electrical systems, and associated equipment. This work directly supports manufacturing, project delivery, and sales outcomes across the business.

This is a hands-on technical role where accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement in your drafting outputs directly support production performance, project timeframes, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all drafting and design duties in accordance with management direction, upholding RNB’s standards of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to produce high-quality electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate general arrangement drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive AutoCAD/electrical drafting library, including standardisation of symbols, templates, and drawing conventions.
  • Produce accurate bills of materials and component schedules to support procurement, manufacturing, and project delivery.
  • Execute drafting tasks and peer reviews in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure drawings and design outputs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.
  • Support Manufacturing staff with machine drawing templating, and assist Project and Operations Managers as required.
  • Assist the Sales team with drafting support and general arrangement drawing development as required.
  • Investigate and evaluate 3D design/drafting software options, supporting rollout across the design team as adopted.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, drafting conventions, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Skills, Experience and requirements

The below experience and capabilities will be highly regarded:

  • Demonstrated experience in electrical drafting and design, ideally within a manufacturing or switchboard environment. – Required.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. – Required.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements applicable to electrical drafting and design.
  • Experience preparing general arrangement drawings, schematics, single line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to produce accurate bills of materials and component schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across design, manufacturing, and sales teams.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • A police background check (or willingness to complete one).
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, including Drug and Alcohol testing.
