About the Role
PSD Energy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Welder to join our Building Workshop team in Adelaide.
This hands-on role will support the fabrication, assembly, installation, modification and repair of workshop-built structures, equipment and project-related components. You will work closely with trades, supervisors and project teams to deliver safe, high-quality and practical workshop outcomes.
This position would suit a skilled Mechanical Fitter, Welder or Fabricator who enjoys varied workshop-based work, problem solving and working as part of a trade-focused team.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out mechanical fitting, welding, fabrication and assembly tasks
- Reading and interpreting drawings, plans and work instructions
- Measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling, fitting and assembling components
- Welding and fabricating steel or metal components as required
- Supporting the construction, modification and repair of workshop-built structures and equipment
- Installing, aligning and fitting mechanical components and assemblies
- Using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and workshop machinery safely
- Conducting basic checks to ensure work is completed accurately and to required standards
- Assisting with material handling, preparation and workshop organisation
- Working collaboratively with carpenters, electricians, trade assistants and supervisors
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area
- Following workplace health and safety requirements, safe work procedures and quality standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Trade qualification or demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Welder, Fabricator or similar
- Experience in workshop fabrication, mechanical assembly, welding or structural repair work
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical instructions
- Strong practical skills across fitting, welding, cutting, grinding and assembly
- Confidence using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and workshop machinery
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Current Driver’s Licence
- White Card, highly regarded
- Forklift licence, Working at Heights or other relevant tickets, highly regarded
