As our distribution capability continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Distribution Engineer to join our Melbourne team.

About the Role

This role will support the design and delivery of electrical distribution infrastructure projects across Victoria.

You will develop practical, compliant and constructable distribution designs using NEARA and AutoCAD, working across new connections, network augmentations, relocations, upgrades and other distribution infrastructure projects.

Experience with Powercor standards, systems and design requirements is highly regarded. However, we are also interested in candidates with strong distribution design experience across other Victorian or Australian electricity networks.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys combining technical design with practical project delivery and working closely with utilities, clients and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• Preparing overhead and underground electrical distribution designs.
• Developing network designs and engineering solutions using NEARA.
• Preparing detailed drawings and design documentation using AutoCAD.
• Designing new connections, network augmentations, relocations and upgrades.
• Undertaking design calculations, equipment selection and technical assessments.
• Interpreting utility standards, specifications, network information and construction requirements.
• Preparing complete design packages for utility and client review and approval.
• Managing design comments, revisions and approvals with relevant stakeholders.
• Supporting site investigations and gathering information required for design development.
• Working closely with project managers, construction teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Providing technical support during construction and resolving design or constructability issues.
• Maintaining accurate drawings, calculations, revisions and engineering records.
• Ensuring designs appropriately consider safety, compliance, constructability, cost and project requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in electrical distribution network design or engineering.
• Practical experience using NEARA for distribution network design.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Experience designing overhead and/or underground distribution infrastructure.
• Knowledge of distribution assets including poles, conductors, cables, transformers and associated equipment.
• An understanding of relevant Australian Standards, utility standards and electrical safety requirements.
• The ability to interpret electrical drawings, network plans, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, compliant designs.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with utilities, clients, engineering teams and construction personnel.
• The ability to manage multiple design activities and work to project deadlines.

We would particularly value experience in:

• Designing projects for Powercor.
• Powercor standards, specifications, design processes and approval requirements.
• Other Victorian distribution networks, including CitiPower, United Energy or AusNet.
• Utility design submissions and approval processes.
• Distribution design within a utility, engineering consultancy or electrical infrastructure contractor.
• Providing design support during construction and commissioning.
