About the Role

PSD Energy is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Fleet & Logistics team in Pooraka, Adelaide.

This role is responsible for the inspection, servicing, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of diesel-powered civil plant and equipment, supporting safe, reliable and efficient project delivery across our workshop and site operations.

You will work across a broad range of civil construction plant and equipment, including excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, graders, dump trucks, water carts, trucks, light vehicles, trailers, generators, compressors and related attachments.

This is a hands-on role suited to a practical, safety-focused tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship, equipment reliability and supporting operational teams to minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on diesel-powered civil plant and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, fuel system, cooling system, driveline and braking faults, while also attending workshop and site-based breakdowns as required.
  • Conduct plant inspections to identify defects, wear, damage or safety concerns, and liaise with operators, supervisors and project teams to understand equipment issues and operational requirements.
  • Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, technical manuals and service information to support accurate fault finding.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, inspection checklists, defect reports and parts records accurately and on time.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, safe work procedures, risk assessments, permits and isolation procedures, while maintaining a safe, clean and organised work area, workshop and service vehicle.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying recurring faults and providing practical recommendations to improve reliability, reduce downtime and improve plant performance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong diagnostic skills, a proactive approach to maintenance and a genuine commitment to safety and quality.

You will have:

  • Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic or equivalent
  • Current Australian driver’s license.
  • Minimum of three years’ post-trade experience is preferred, with demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing civil construction plant and equipment highly regarded.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, driveline, braking, cooling, fuel and electrical systems
  • Confidence reading and interpreting technical manuals, service schedules, hydraulic schematics and parts diagrams.
  • A sound understanding of preventative maintenance systems and plant compliance requirements, with the ability to work independently, prioritise urgent repairs and communicate effectively with supervisors and operators.
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, quality workmanship and accurate record keeping. Flexibility to work across workshop and site environments, including overtime or call-outs where required, will be important.
