About the Role
Preston Hire is looking for an experienced Truck Driver / Rigger to join our NSW team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for the safe delivery, collection, and rigging of Preston Hire equipment — including our SuperDeck cantilevered loading platform — to and from customer sites across NSW.
This is a dual-skilled role combining heavy vehicle transport with licensed rigging work. If you take pride in doing the job properly, represent yourself professionally on site, and hold the tickets to back it up, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Driving Preston Hire vehicles safely in accordance with road laws and company procedures
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reporting defects promptly
- Delivering and collecting hire equipment with correctly secured and documented loads
- Installing and dismantling SuperDeck cantilevered loading platforms on customer sites
- Performing rigging operations within your licence classification
- Checking equipment on and off hire and recording any discrepancies
- Inspecting, cleaning, assembling, and preparing hire equipment before and after use
- Completing all paperwork accurately — pre-delivery forms, checklists, timesheets, and dockets
- Representing Preston Hire professionally on customer sites
What You’ll Need
Essential:
- Current heavy vehicle driver licence — HC or HR class (Transport for NSW)
- High Risk Work Licence — Rigging Basic (RB) or higher (SafeWork NSW)
- White Card (CPCWHS1001)
- Physical capacity to perform sustained manual handling, loading/unloading of heavy equipment, and extended driving — this is an inherent requirement of the role
Desirable:
- High Risk Work Licence — Dogging (DG)
- High Risk Work Licence — Forklift Operation (LF or LO)
- Experience in hire equipment, construction, or logistics
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)
About You
You’re reliable, punctual, and self-managed. You keep your paperwork straight, stay on top of your schedule, and don’t cut corners on safety. You communicate clearly with site staff and customers, and you represent yourself — and our brand — well on site.
