The role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic Design Engineer to join our team based at Bibra Lake, WA. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership in the design, development, and delivery of complex hydraulic systems, and solutions across a diverse range of projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle — from front-end engineering and tender support through to detailed design and delivery — while collaborating closely with project, workshop, and site teams. Occasional travel to client offices, production facilities, and project sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, review, and delivery of complex hydraulic, mechanical, and structural systems, ensuring technical excellence and innovation
- Provide technical authority and oversight on engineering deliverables, including 3D models, drawings, calculations, and documentation
- Drive collaboration across Project Managers, Operations, Workshop, and Site teams to ensure practical, efficient, and integrated engineering solutions
- Lead Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), scope development, and provide technical input into estimates and tender submissions
- Facilitate and lead design reviews, risk assessments, and hazard studies (e.g. HAZOPs, FMEAs), ensuring robust and compliant outcomes
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing within the team
- Ensure engineering records, calculations, and design history files are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company requirements
- Ensure all engineering outputs meet company and regulatory standards for safety, quality, and compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering systems and design methodologies
- Promote a strong HSE culture and comply with all safety, quality, and environmental systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering with relevant industry experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience within the Hydraulics industry
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices and methods, as applied to hydraulic engineering
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems engineering and hydraulic components
- Experience in mechanical and structural equipment design
- Working knowledge of basic electrical principles
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Experience leading FEED, tendering, and multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Ability to liaise effectively with clients, internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- High level of computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy
- Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
