Powerlift Industries is seeking an experienced and motivated Building Supervisor to join our growing team in Karratha.
Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading our Building Services division, coordinating personnel, plant and equipment, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role that will see you supervising and supporting trades teams both within our workshop facilities and across various client sites throughout the Pilbara region.
This position is based in Karratha and operates on a Monday to Friday roster, with overtime and occasional weekend work required to meet operational demands.
This is a local position and candidates will need to reside in Karratha, Dampier or surrounding areas.
About the Role
As the Building Supervisor, you will play a key role in the planning, coordination and execution of a diverse range of building and maintenance projects. You will provide strong leadership to trades personnel while maintaining exceptional safety, quality and client service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the building services team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Maintain compliance with company, client, regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate labour, plant and equipment resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Take ownership of client relationships and resolve project-related issues effectively.
- Provide regular progress updates, reports and feedback to the Business Development Manager.
- Assist with procurement activities and the mobilisation of equipment and materials to site.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through visible leadership and proactive engagement.
- Review and verify daily risk assessments, SWPs and JHAs to ensure effective implementation.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure all works meet specifications and project requirements.
- Interpret drawings, scopes of work, material requirements and project schedules.
- Lead, mentor and motivate crews of approximately 5–12 trades personnel.
- Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting and execution activities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A trade qualification in Carpentry, Construction Management or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within the building, construction or maintenance industry.
- Strong experience delivering building and construction projects in remote or industrial environments.
- Experience with NPI works, building refurbishments, office renovations, transportable building installations and minor civil works.
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and manage diverse work teams.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Experience with project scoping and quotation preparation will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience and current or recent inductions within Rio Tinto Pilbara operations are highly desirable.
