Asset Accountant

With more than 30 years in the industry, Porter Plant is a respected leader in the plant and equipment dry‑hire sector operating across Australia. We are currently have a Part Time vacancy for a highly organised, detail-oriented Financial Asset Officer to join our Finance team.

 

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will play a key role in maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, managing hire purchase and finance lease agreements, supporting capital expenditure activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting, taxation and statutory requirements.

 

To be successful in the role you will have a strong background and knowledge in;

Asset Accounting

  • Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register and General Ledger.
  • Manage asset acquisitions, disposals and early terminations.
  • Maintain depreciation schedules for accounting and taxation purposes.
  • Administer hire purchase agreements and finance lease documentation.

Capital Expenditure & Asset Management

  • Monitor CAPEX against budgets and forecasts.
  • Coordinate stock counts and asset verification activities.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare audit documentation and supporting schedules.
  • Support bank covenant reporting and monitoring.

 The successful candidate, will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
  • Experience in fixed asset accounting, asset management or financial accounting.
  • Strong understanding of depreciation, asset registers and reconciliations.
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • The ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
