Description

Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with respiratory disorders. They work with other healthcare professionals to provide appropriate interventions for patients of all ages. The therapist develops treatment and care plans, monitors and evaluates patient response to therapy, performs diagnostic tests, administers medications, and provides patient education.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments and diagnostic tests to evaluate the patient’s cardiopulmonary and respiratory status.
  • Evaluate patient symptoms and medical history to develop a treatment plan.
  • Administer medications and other respiratory treatments.
  • Monitor the patient’s response to therapy and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about respiratory disorders, medications, and home care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop interdisciplinary care plans.
  • Participate in patient care conferences and provide input on patient care decisions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of respiratory equipment.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards of care for respiratory therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current state license to practice respiratory therapy
  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in respiratory therapy
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical records
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
