Description
About PolarSeven
Our mission is to empower organisations to modernise through advanced AWS cloud technology, delivering solutions that are accessible, secure and effective while supporting long-term business growth.
After ten years, PolarSeven has grown into an established AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and MSP, helping Australian organisations adopt, innovate and operate in the cloud.
Our expertise spans cloud strategy and advisory, migration, application modernisation, managed services, security and compliance, and emerging technologies including generative AI.
Our values of customer focus, innovation, integrity, sustainability and collaboration underpin how we work with our customers, partners and each other.
We’re entering an important phase of growth, expanding our Consulting and Managed Services businesses while strengthening our partnerships and developing new opportunities across the AWS ecosystem.
About the opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced “go-to-market” BDM to drive new business growth and help build PolarSeven’s sales capability.
Reporting directly to our CEO, you’ll take ownership of developing a predictable pipeline of qualified opportunities and converting these into new business across our Consulting and Managed Services business units. You will be accountable for achieving agreed revenue targets, originating co-sell leads through the AWS ACE portal, and leveraging funding programs such as MAP and POC funding to accelerate deals.
This is a hands-on commercial role. You’ll systematically identify and target customers aligned with our Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), develop relationships with C-suite decision-makers and work closely with AWS account managers to generate and progress opportunities. You’ll work closely with our GTM team to develop targeted campaigns, identify high-propensity prospects, and actively engage and follow up with qualified leads to convert interest into sales opportunities.
You’ll collaborate with our Consulting and Technical teams to understand customer requirements, shape solutions and develop commercially sound proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs).
A key part of the role will be leveraging our AWS partnership, including co-sell opportunities, funding programs and targeted go-to-market initiatives that create opportunities for broader, longer-term customer engagements.
We’re looking for someone who can build the business, not simply manage a sales pipeline. Someone who enjoys developing relationships, creating opportunities and closing deals, while helping establish the foundations for a larger GTM function as PolarSeven grows.
About you
You’re an experienced technology sales professional with a demonstrated track record of generating new business, developing customer relationships and delivering commercial results.
You understand how technology businesses grow and know how to work effectively with customers, technical specialists and delivery teams to identify and convert opportunities.
You’re equally comfortable developing strategic customer relationships and managing multiple opportunities through the sales cycle.
You enjoy working in a smaller, entrepreneurial business where you can make a direct contribution, take ownership and see the commercial impact of your work.
Specifically, we are looking for candidates with:
- Significant experience in B2B technology sales, business development or go-to-market roles, ideally within AWS cloud consulting, professional services or managed services.
- A demonstrated track record of identifying, developing and closing new business opportunities against agreed revenue targets.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with C-suite executives and other senior customer decision-makers.
- Experience collaborating with technical and consulting teams to develop solutions, proposals and commercially sound Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of pricing, margins, customer value and return on investment.
Highly regarded:
- Strong knowledge of the AWS ecosystem, including account management structures, partner relationships, co-sell opportunities, relevant funding programs and the AWS Customer Engagement (ACE) portal.
- Established relationships with AWS account managers, partner sales teams and other relevant stakeholders.
- Experience developing and executing partner-led GTM campaigns or packaged technology service offerings.
- Experience selling cloud migration, modernisation, data, AI or managed services solutions.
Your interpersonal skills
We value the breadth and depth of experience that our people bring to their work. We’re seeking someone with a strong mix of commercial capability, initiative and interpersonal skills.
You’ll be naturally curious, commercially driven and comfortable engaging with customers to understand their business challenges.
You’ll have the confidence to challenge constructively, the judgement to know when to listen and the ability to build trust with customers, colleagues and partners.
Importantly, you’ll be comfortable operating in a small, fast-moving business where priorities evolve, collaboration is essential and individual accountability matters.
You’ll enjoy creating opportunities rather than waiting for them and take genuine ownership of delivering results.
At this point, we hope you’re feeling excited about the job description you’re reading. Even if you don’t feel that you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We always aim to recruit the candidate who is most suited to the job and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.
For a confidential discussion, please contact Glen Brennan on 0439 637 427.
To apply, please include an updated resume and a cover letter outlining your interest in the role and how you could contribute to PolarSeven’s growth.
