Kaiwhakarite | Mental Health Coordinator- Primary Mental Health Service

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a Kaiwhakarite | Mental Health Coordinator to provide high-quality administrative and coordination support across our Primary Mental Health services.

This is a non-clinical role, focused on supporting clinicians and teams to deliver effective, equitable care. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of services, while also acting as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for tāngata whai ora and stakeholders, grounded in manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

In this role, you will provide administrative and coordination support to Primary Mental Health teams, including supporting the Brief Intervention Talking Therapy (BITT) service through referral coordination and administration. The role involves managing referrals, schedules, and service coordination tasks to support clinicians, as well as maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely data entry in relevant systems.

You will also complete audits, assist with service reporting requirements, and process clinician and contractor payments. In addition, you will coordinate facilities and service-related issues, support continuous improvement initiatives, and uphold information security, health and safety, and equity commitments.

You will bring experience in administration, coordination, ideally within a health or community setting, along with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. You will be confident communicating with a wide range of people in a professional and welcoming manner, and will take a proactive, team-focused approach to supporting clinicians and service delivery.

You will be comfortable using Patient Management Systems and standard office technology, a strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy, and a commitment to equity in health outcomes. You will also demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in practice.
