Childcare Centre Cook

Summary:

The Childcare Centre Cook plays a vital role in our educational environment by providing nutritious and balanced meals for children. This position is essential in promoting healthy eating habits and ensuring dietary needs are met, contributing to the overall well-being and development of the children in our care. The Cook will work part-time in our Stanhope centre, collaborating closely with educators and staff to create a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for children, adhering to dietary requirements and allergies.
• Plan weekly menus in collaboration with the childcare team, ensuring a variety of meals that promote healthy eating.
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, following health and safety regulations.
• Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
• Engage with children during meal times to encourage healthy eating habits and social interaction.
• Assist in the training of staff on food safety and nutrition practices.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a cook in a childcare or educational setting is preferred.
• Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene or equivalent qualification.
• Strong understanding of nutrition and dietary needs for children.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.
• Passion for working with children and promoting healthy lifestyles.
