Description

About us:

pay.com.au is one of Australia’s fastest-growing technology scale-ups, trusted by businesses across the country. Since 2019, we’ve been transforming business payments by enabling companies from sole traders to large enterprises to pay by credit card and earn rewards on every transaction.

We’re now taking that same idea to the US, under our PayRewards brand. Australian company, American product: US businesses pay their vendors and bills by card and earn rewards on money they were already spending including points that move into airline programs. Invoices and bills that never earned anything before now do.

We’re still early days in the US, which is exactly what makes it exciting. This year is about bringing a lot more American small businesses onto the platform, cutting what it costs to win each one down to a fraction of what it is today, and turning rewards into the reason they stick around.

Roles like this one sit in Melbourne, embedded in the US team working directly with the US CEO to help build what’s next, not just deliver it afterwards.

At pay.com.au & PayRewards, you’ll join a fast-growing team shaping the future of B2B payments across both our Australian and US businesses.

Why join us?

  • Be part of an exciting Tech Scale-up, with teams across Australia and the USA.
  • Enjoy flexible working arrangements and a great work-life balance.
  • Awarded 2025 People’s Choice Award winner at the Finder Innovation Awards, Finalist for FinTech Organisation of the Year at the 2025 FinTech Australia Finnies, Number 1 on the Smart50 list 2024, Top 3 Deloitte Tech Fast 50 & Victoria State Champion!
  • Grow your career in a culture that values creativity, innovation, and collaboration with access to learning budgets to accelerate your career.
  • Our new Pay HQ in Windsor brings together great coffee, collaborative spaces, and the kind of energy that makes doing your best work easy.

Senior Product & Marketing Designer

The Senior Product & Marketing Designer owns how PayRewards looks, reads, and feels to US businesses, from the first ad a business owner sees through signup, onboarding, first payment, and every points redemption after that. PayRewards lets US businesses pay any expense by card or ACH, even when the vendor doesn’t take cards, and earn rewards twice on every dollar. Turning that into a proposition people understand in seconds, trust with their money, and act on is a design problem as much as a marketing one.

This is a senior, hands-on role and part of the growing design team for the US business. The first priority is customer growth: the campaigns, landing pages, and lifecycle communications that introduce PayRewards and make the next step obvious.

Responsibilities

  • Shape how PayRewards shows up across marketing, signup, onboarding, education, lifecycle, and rewards redemption, so the experience feels credible, human, and easy to act on.
  • Create reusable patterns, components, templates, QA processes, AI-assisted workflows, and production standards across web, email, paid social, print, events, and internal tools.
  • Design the tools that bring businesses in. Design and evolve the free, top-of-funnel tools that put PayRewards in front of US businesses — invoice generator, business origination and signup flows, fee and points calculators, and similar — so each one is genuinely useful, earns trust, captures intent, and hands off cleanly into onboarding.
  • Improve activation through high-performing creative. Design direct-response work across landing pages, email, paid ads, and multi-step funnels, with every decision tied to clarity, trust, conversion, and action.
  • Make a complex financial product simple. Card versus ACH, service fees, Core and Plus earn rates, points expiry, and transfer partners are genuinely nuanced. Make that easier to understand without oversimplifying, overpromising, or misstating how fees and rewards work.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering. Design in-product flows, payment creation, approvals, wallet setup, QuickBooks Online connection, points redemption and hand off specs that ship accurately.
  • Act as creative lead and hands-on maker. Shape briefs, guide visual systems, tighten message hierarchy, direct copy, illustration, motion, and vendor partners, and still produce polished, production-ready assets yourself.
  • Protect the brand across two markets. Keep US work in US language and conventions, vendors not suppliers, EIN not ABN, ACH not EFT, check not cheque, while staying coherent with the parent brand, pay.com.au.

About You

  • You build and deploy, not just design. This one is non-negotiable. You can take a concept into an AI coding tool — Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, v0, Replit, or similar — and build, iterate, and ship a working landing page, funnel, or tool yourself. If every build has to be handed to an engineer, this is not the right job for you.
  • A broad designer with strong customer judgment. You simplify complexity, reduce friction, build trust quickly, and make the next step obvious for people making considered financial decisions. You have done this in lifecycle marketing, customer engagement, or high-consideration consumer or SMB products.
  • Strong product, UX, and research instincts. You can map journeys, structure information, design flows, talk to customers and internal teams, spot patterns, and turn qualitative insight into better experiences.
  • Direct-response and growth design experience. You have designed creative measured by conversion, activation, signup, lead generation, or another concrete action — not just impressions.
  • Excellent visual craft and message hierarchy. Your work is clean, disciplined, and considered. You use typography, layout, imagery, pacing, headlines, and CTAs to guide attention and drive action.
  • Experience building systems, not just assets. You create reusable patterns, templates, standards, and workflows that make a company’s output more coherent and efficient.
  • Digital, print, and modern production fluency. You know what it takes to launch a landing page, design within email constraints, get print to press, QA assets, and work with vendors and channel owners. You are fluent in contemporary tools and have a point of view on how AI is changing creative workflows.
  • Comfortable directing outside creative talent. You can brief, manage, and review agency and contractor work, hold the line on quality and brand, and keep projects on schedule alongside your own hands-on work.
  • High agency, low ego, comfortable with complexity. You create structure from ambiguity, move fast, explain your decisions clearly, take feedback across functions, and design responsibly in a regulated category where accuracy about fees, rewards, and eligibility matters.

We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make an impact, we’re keen to hear from you.
