Description

The Role

Reporting to the Brand & Marketing Manager, the Social Content Producer is a hands-on, highly creative role at the heart of how Paralympics Australia shows up in culture and connects with audiences. You’ll create social-first content that brings our athletes, stories and moments to life – from planned campaigns and long-lead creative concepts to spotting and capturing moments as they happen.

From developing a concept and getting behind the camera, to editing, writing copy and publishing in real time, you’ll be involved in the full creative process. No two days will look the same, and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to experiment, try new things and make your mark.

Working closely with the marketing team, this role will play a key role in growing our social channels and finding new ways to make Paralympic sport, our athletes and what we stand for relevant, engaging and impossible to ignore.

The Person

We’re looking for a creative powerhouse who knows what makes people stop scrolling – and has the skills, curiosity and instinct to turn great ideas, stories and athlete moments into content people want to watch, share and engage with.

You’ll have demonstrated experience creating social-first content, particularly short-form video, and bring a strong storytelling lens, a sharp visual eye and an understanding of what works across different platforms, audiences and formats. You’ll be curious about what’s next, plugged into the culture of social and able to turn an idea into something people genuinely want to see.

Most importantly, you’ll be excited by the opportunity to make Australian Paralympians and Para sport famous.

We strongly encourage applications from Paralympians, people with disability or with Para sport experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce engaging, social-first content across PA’s channels, with a focus on growing reach, engagement and audience connection.
  • Create and edit short-form video, photography, graphics, copy and other social content, ensuring it is tailored to the platform, audience and objective.
  • Work closely with athletes, teams and internal stakeholders to identify and capture content opportunities across marketing campaigns, partnerships, fundraising, education and fan engagement.
  • Deliver live and event-based social coverage across key PA events and competitions, capturing and publishing content in real time.
  • Manage day-to-day social scheduling, publishing and community management.
  • Contribute to social content planning and own the content calendar, ensuring activity aligns with PA’s brand, strategic priorities and key moments across the sporting calendar.
  • Monitor social performance, audience behaviour, platform trends and emerging formats to optimise content and identify opportunities.
  • Support the broader Marketing and Communications teams with content production for the PA website, EDMs and other digital channels where required.

Key Competencies

  • Minimum 2-3 years, full-time experience working in a similar role, ideally within sport, media, entertainment or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Strong short-form video production and editing skills, with experience using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut and/or mobile-first editing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social analytics and the ability to use performance data to inform content decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the confidence to work directly with athletes and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Education and Training

  • Relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media, Journalism or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on sporting or major events is favourable (but not essential).

At Paralympics Australia, we prioritise the continuous development of our team members, nurturing leadership qualities. As a valued member of the PA team, you will receive support and opportunities for growth through access to ongoing professional development in leadership.
