The Role
Under the guidance of the General Manager Talent & Performance Pathways, the Para Talent Transfer Coordinator role will support the delivery of current and future proactive Para Talent Transfer initiatives. The role will focus on practical processes to transition targeted athletes with the physical and technical attributes required for elite performance in an alternative sport, including those currently outside Para sport.
Primarily, the role will support proactive initiatives and the function of talent transfer in Paralympic sport and focus across four critical domains and scope for the role:
- System intelligence & Transfer opportunities
- NSO/NSOD Engagement
- Targeted Communication and Behaviour change
- Individual athlete case management
The role aims to support medium and long-term high-performance outcomes through transfer and retention of talented Para athletes within the pathway. This is a fixed-term contract role until 30 June 2028 and can be based from our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane office. It will require occasional interstate travel and weekend work.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced coordinator and confident communicator who can build effective relationships across the Para sport system. You will be curious, adaptable and organised, with the initiative and judgement to identify opportunities and turn them into practical action. You will work collaboratively with athletes and system partners, bringing an athlete-centred approach and a genuine interest in strengthening the Para performance pathway to support individuals in reaching their full potential and to play a role in achieving the Best Games Ever in Brisbane 2032.
Responsibilities
System Intelligence & Identification of Opportunities: Use system intelligence and data analysis to identify priority talent opportunities across the Para pathway.
NSO/NSOD Engagement: Engage with NSO’s & NSOD’s to identify priority events, classifications and impairment profiles aligned to pathway needs. Collaborate with SIS/SAS Para units to support athlete onboarding, cross-sport movement and proactive talent transfer.
Individual Athlete Transition Case Management: Support the individualised case management of athletes through key transition points within the Para performance pathway.
Targeted Communications and Behaviour Change: Support the delivery of targeted communications and behaviour change initiatives to address identified talent gaps across the Para performance system.
Key Competencies
- Strong administrative and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to foster collaboration in cross-functional environments to achieve shared goals.
- Understanding of Classification and its role in Paralympic sport is critical.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to take initiative and work positively in a team environment and in partnership with a variety of key stakeholders.
- Takes ownership of tasks and has high attention to detail.
- Represents the organisation’s values and contributes to a positive workplace culture.
Education and Training
- Qualifications in sport science, sport coaching, and/or sport management is preferable although not essential depending upon experience.
- Working with Children’s Check.
