Paralympics Australia is inviting expressions of interest for the role of Chef de Mission for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and unite the Australian Paralympic Team, helping create the conditions in which athletes can perform at their best while protecting and strengthening the culture, values and reputation of the Team.

Working alongside our Games Delivery team, the Chef de Mission will be a visible and trusted leader who brings people together around a shared purpose. They will exercise sound judgement in complex and high-pressure environments and strengthen the connection between Australia’s Paralympians and the nation they represent.

We are seeking a leader who brings:

• senior leadership experience in a complex, high-performance sport environment
• sound judgement and the courage to make timely decisions 
• the ability to remain composed, visible and effective under pressure 
• a strong commitment to athlete wellbeing, inclusion and safeguarding 
• the ability to build trust, connection and shared purpose across a diverse delegation 
• high emotional intelligence, self-awareness and adaptability 
• credibility in public, media and team-facing environments.

We particularly welcome expressions of interest from Paralympians whose lived experience brings an athlete perspective, a deep understanding of the Games environment and a strong connection to the Paralympic Movement.

The commitment will build progressively across the LA28 Games cycle, including planning, team engagement and readiness activities. The successful candidate will need the flexibility to undertake domestic and international travel and be fully available to lead the Australian Paralympic Team throughout the LA28 Games campaign. Engagement and remuneration arrangements will be agreed with the successful candidate.
