About the role:
The primary role of the Refettorio Chef is to prepare and deliver high-quality, nourishing meals using rescued ingredients, while supporting the smooth and safe operation of the Refettorio kitchen. The role works collaboratively with the kitchen team, volunteers and key stakeholders to deliver daily programs and dining experiences that reflect OzHarvest’s commitment to reducing food waste, creating connection and providing warm, dignified hospitality to vulnerable community members.

Chef duties:
- Food preparation and service at our community restaurant – The Refettorio
- Cooking duties that align with food waste reduction and using rescued food
- Adhering to our Food Safety Plan
- Assisting when needed in dishwashing & rubbish removal
- Maintaining cool room and freezer cleanliness
- Willingness to work across other OzHarvest kitchen programs such as Food truck & Catering

Personal Specifications
Qualifications:
- Certificate 3 in hospitality
- 2 years’ full time experience in hospitality inclusive of approved professional cookery training
- Previously employed as a working chef, Chef De Partie, Station Cook/Chef or Restaurant Cook/Chef
- Manual Handling Course
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Food Safety Handling trained and understanding of the OzHarvest Safe Food Handling Policy
- Valid and current Police Check. WWC check or willingness to obtain
