Description

As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and commercial success of a multi-department retail business. Working closely with a team of Department Managers and Supervisors, you will drive operational excellence, ensure exceptional customer service, and maintain high standards across all areas of the business; including busy kitchens/prep areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and support a team of Department Managers and Supervisors to achieve operational and financial objectives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple departments, ensuring smooth, efficient and compliant business practices.
  • Monitor sales performance, labour costs, budgets and key financial metrics to maximise profitability.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, customer satisfaction and overall business performance.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, company policies and relevant legislation.
  • Manage training, performance management and succession planning for frontline teams.
  • Conduct regular operational audits and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Coordinate inventory management, stock control, ordering and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and operational issues in a professional and timely manner
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and support departments to implement business initiatives, promotions and operational improvements.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement and customer experience.
  • Manage maintenance requirements, contractor coordination and asset management to ensure facilities remain safe and operational.
  • Lead change management initiatives, including new systems, procedures and operational projects.
  • Ensure consistent presentation standards, merchandising and cleanliness across all departments.
  • Prepare and manage rosters within approved labour budgets, and review and approve department supervisor rosters to ensure appropriate staffing levels, award compliance and labour cost targets are maintained.
  • Skills & Experience

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Store Manager or Restaurant Manager role within a busy retail, café or hospitality environment.
    • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of Supervisors and frontline employees.
    • Proven ability to manage high-volume operations while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
    • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, labour cost management and stock control
    • Experience with recruitment, performance management and staff development.
    • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, food safety and compliance requirements.
    • Strong leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills.
    • Excellent organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
    • Proficient in inventory management, rostering and business management systems.
    • Customer-focused with a proactive, solutions-driven approach and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
