JCR Assistant 2027

About the Role

The JCR Café is a seven-day-a-week operation, run in partnership with Ormond College and the Ormond College Students’ Club. JCR team members assist in the day-to-day running of the café, providing outstanding customer service with attention to detail and a great attitude that helps make the JCR a hub for community life. Duties include setting up the café, customer service, cash handling, coffee making, cleaning, and packing down at the end of your shift. Team members are also required to work at least one Events shift per month, including setting up for events, cocktail functions and College dinners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting up the café if on the morning shift
  • Assisting with food service in the JCR, including food preparation
  • Providing a high level of customer service
  • Ensuring enough stock is present and replenishing as required
  • Making coffee that meets or beats the Melbourne standard
  • Clearing dirty crockery and glassware promptly
  • Ensuring the JCR is clean and meets all food safety regulations at all times
  • Ensuring the service of alcohol meets the regulations of the on-premise liquor licence at all times
  • Assisting with pack-up at the end of the afternoon/evening shift, including cleaning
  • Recording hours of work accurately in order to be paid
  • Other duties as directed by Leadership

Eligibility

Applicants must be 18 years or older and 2nd or 3rd year Ormond residential student in 2027. 

Successful applicants will also need to hold or obtain an RSA and a Working with Children Check (Employee), and complete a GBV declaration if successful. 

Students may hold a maximum of 2 casual Ormond roles at one time.
