Origin Support Services Pty Ltd is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to join our growing team in Townsville, QLD.
At Origin Support Services, we provide person-centred, individualised support to people living with disabilities. Our services include:
- Community Access
- Supported Independent Living (SIL)
This opportunity is for a casual position predominantly providing Community Access Supports (CAS) across the Townsville region. There may also be opportunities to provide support within Supported Independent Living (SIL) as required. The successful candidate must have good availability, including weekends, flexible hours, and occasional active night shifts where required, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position for the right person.
Experience is preferred but not essential. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training along with access to a range of Origin Support Services resources and professional development opportunities.
About the Opportunity
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred support to participants both in their homes and within the community while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and control.
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing predominantly Community Access Supports (CAS) to participants.
- Assisting with daily living activities and personal support where required.
- Building positive, professional relationships with participants.
- Supporting attendance at appointments and community outings.
- Assisting with community access, including shopping and recreational activities.
- Completing household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation where required.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised home environment.
- Completing accurate shift notes and incident reports.
- Supporting participants to achieve the goals outlined in their NDIS plans.
- Providing support within Supported Independent Living (SIL) as required.
- Providing support during active night shifts when rostered, remaining awake and responsive throughout the shift to ensure participant safety and wellbeing.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement due to participant support needs).
- Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening Clearance) or willingness to obtain one.
- Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain one.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Your own reliable vehicle with comprehensive or third-party property insurance suitable for transporting participants.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient while supporting participants with complex behaviours and emotional regulation needs.
- Full working rights within Australia.
- Availability to work weekdays and weekends, flexible shifts, and active/inactive overnight shifts when required.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Certificate III or higher in Individual Support, Community Services, or a related qualification.
- Experience supporting participants with complex or high-intensity needs.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and Behaviour Support Plans.
- Previous experience in disability support or a similar role.
- Strong English communication skills and ability to build rapport with participants.
