VMware Subject Matter Expert – Contract | Canberra | NV2+ Cleared

About the role
As our VMware SME, you’ll set the build direction for the server infrastructure, virtualisation and network virtualisation layers, and own integration decisions across compute, storage, virtualisation and network. You’ll provide the direction our VMware Engineer builds to, own the backup and recovery approach across multiple classified environments, and act as the senior escalation point when complex integration issues surface.
What you’ll be doing
- Setting the build direction for server infrastructure (compute and storage), VMware vSphere / ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and NSX
- Owning integration decisions across compute, storage, virtualisation and network components
- Assuring the technical quality of engineer-delivered build and configuration against the intended design
- Ensuring alignment with Government frameworks including ISM, PSPF and DSPF
- Acting as senior escalation point for complex virtualisation and infrastructure integration issues
- Guiding and unblocking engineers, and contributing to standards, patterns and reusable build artefacts
- Defining the backup and DCBCP approach using Commvault — Commvault Cloud, On-Premise and Hyperscale X
What we’re looking for
- Deep capability across VMware vSphere / ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and NSX
- Strong server infrastructure background across compute and storage
- A track record of owning integration decisions and setting build direction for engineering teams
- Backup and recovery design experience, ideally with Commvault
- Working knowledge of ISM, PSPF and DSPF
- Experience engaging across client, internal, partner and supplier stakeholders
- The ability to assure engineer-delivered work against design intent and unblock delivery
