Description
Position Summary
The Product Manager – Platform owns Obzervr’s Platform Enablement domain – the platform and integration foundations every implementation depends on, from the Admin Console and APIs to ERP integrations and configuration. The role turns customer and company needs into a prioritised roadmap, partners with engineering to deliver it, and is accountable for making each implementation easier than the last.
Key Responsibilities
Roadmap & Discovery
- Own a clear, ranked roadmap for the Platform Enablement area, tying customer needs to company goals.
- Lead discovery: talk to customers, gather feedback, and test key assumptions before the team commits to build.
- Weigh value, effort, and risk when you set what comes first, and explain your thinking to the business.
Delivery & Quality
- Write clear requirements and acceptance criteria so engineering and QA can build with little rework.
- Work day-to-day with Product Engineers, QA, and design to deliver high-quality, reliable releases.
- Keep the backlog healthy and each sprint ready within the Obzervr delivery model.
Platform, Data & AI-Enabled Ways of Working
- Build strong working knowledge of the Obzervr integrations (SAP, Pronto, MEX, AMT) and mining workflows.
- Track product data after launch to measure outcomes, and feed what you learn into the next decision.
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate discovery synthesis, requirements drafting and data analysis – and stay alert to how AI and automation could shape the platform and integration roadmap – applying judgement to validate outputs.
- Share the roadmap, progress, and key decisions clearly with the team and the business.
Skills & Competencies
Essential
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a customer-first mindset and strong discovery and problem-framing ability.
- Data-driven decision-making, including defining success metrics and evaluating outcomes.
- Communication & influence – makes complex problems clear to any audience and drives alignment without authority.
- Collaboration & listening – builds shared understanding and treats other functions as partners.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted tools to accelerate discovery synthesis, requirements drafting and data analysis, with sound judgement to validate outputs.
- Agility & quality – evolves the solution as understanding changes, without letting standards slip.
- High attention to detail and accuracy (quality assurance too).
Desirable
- Proficiency in product tooling (e.g., Jira, roadmap and discovery tools, analytics/BI).
- Strong organisational and project-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions.
- Willingness to adopt new tools and ways of working as the organisation evolves its technology stack.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of product management experience delivering software products (or a strong equivalent track record in a closely adjacent role).
- Proven experience working with engineering and design teams in an agile delivery environment.
Preferred
- Experience in the mining, resources, or heavy asset-intensive industries – desirable, not essential.
- Experience with B2B SaaS and integration-heavy products.
- Familiarity with ERP/CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, MEX, AMT).
Working Conditions
- Based at Obzervr’s Brisbane office. Hybrid working arrangements available after the probation period.
- Travel may be required from time to time depending on business needs.
- Standard business hours apply, with flexibility to accommodate team and project needs.
